Traveling in Småland is easy. Not only are the roads good and everything at a convenient distance, public transportation is just what you would expect in a West European country, with trains and buses running smoothly and frequently. Traveling by car from Stockholm, you would go south on the expressway E4 to Jönköping, about 4.5 hours southwest of Stockholm, then East to reach the glass district and the Småland coastal areas or take the coastal route, E22, from Norrköping, 2.5 hours south of Stockholm, to Kalmar. Traveling from Copenhagen Denmark, you can take either the bridge over Öresund to Malmö, then go north on E6/E4 to Jönköping or go through the inland on smaller roads leading through häslleholm in northern Skåne, then to Växjö, in Småland’s center.
The train from Stockholm to Jönköping will take 3 to 3.5 hours, you have at least five or six departures every day and it could cost anywhere from $100 to $200 one way. Traveling by train from the south, you would pick Växjö as your first destination, under 2 hours north of Malmö across the bridge from Copenhagen and at a cost of $40-$60 one way.
